Teen charged after Norwegian brutally attacked by mob at Melbourne tourist hotspot

Norwegian tourist attacked by mob at St Kilda Pier

A Norwegian tourist has been left injured and forced to flee Australia after being violently attacked by a group of youths at St Kilda Pier in broad daylight, with new footage revealing the scale of the assault.

Police say the 34-year-old man was wrongly accused of taking photos, chased down the pier, knocked to the ground and repeatedly punched and kicked, suffering a broken arm and facial injuries before a bystander intervened.

A 19-year-old man from Deer Park has since handed himself in and been charged with multiple offences including assault, robbery and theft, after the victim’s phone was allegedly stolen and thrown into the water.

Investigators are still seeking several others involved in the attack and say the victim attempted to prove his innocence during the confrontation but was ignored, describing the behaviour as disturbing and unacceptable.

  1. Last time we ‘Holiday’d’ in Oz was 18 years ago, and it was bad even back then.
    Just another U.K. ‘Down-Unda’…
We go elsewhere for ‘Holidays’, or just stay home…
