Trump Jr. labels BBC ‘fake news’

Donald Trump Jr. has blasted the BBC as “fake news” after a report alleged that the broadcaster deliberately edited footage of former President Donald Trump’s speech ahead of the January 6, 2021 Capitol riots.

Citing a whistleblower memo from former BBC adviser Michael Prescott, The Telegraph (UK) revealed that a 2024 BBC Panorama episode titled Trump: A Second Chance? spliced together Trump’s remarks from different parts of his speech to make it seem as though he urged supporters to “fight like hell” and march on the Capitol.

The memo claimed the edits materially misled viewers by altering the sequence of events. BBC management reportedly denied any breach of editorial standards, but the episode has since been removed from circulation. Trump Jr. responded on X, saying British journalists were “just as dishonest” as their U.S. counterparts.

He encouraged what happened. And now he has the Insurrection Act at his use.
