Authorities in Washington, DC, have enforced a five-night curfew for anyone under 18 following a violent Halloween brawl involving hundreds of teenagers.
The curfew, running from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Wednesday, aims to curb rising youth disorder across the city.
Mayor Muriel Bowser said the measure follows weeks of disruptive juvenile behavior that endangered public safety. Police have designated “special juvenile curfew zones” in areas including Navy Yard, U Street, Banneker Recreation Center, and Union Station.
The move comes after viral footage showed National Guard troops breaking up a large fight near the Navy Yard Metro Station, where five teenagers were arrested and one found carrying a knife. Police vowed to maintain a strong presence to prevent further incidents.
