The body of Zhong, a former business partner of Sun, was found inside a suitcase in the boot of her vehicle in the Auckland suburb of Sunnyhills in November 2020.
According to the Crown, Sun blamed Zhong for the loss of millions of dollars through their business ventures, and the motive was revenge.
Sun will be sentenced on 2 August.
