The video, and attendant outrage, has gone viral.
Video has emerged of a protester repeatedly punching an elderly woman at Posie Parker Women’s Rights rally on Saturday.
The assailant appears to be male with a beard and long hair, who is standing with the pro-trans section of the crowd.
A photo of the victim after the beating was also posted on social media. It shows her right eye beginning to cover over and the beginnings of a substantial bruise.
A copy of the video was tweeted by Posie Parker, who commented ‘This is a man punching an older woman.’
Police are yet to confirm if any arrests have been made.

Not sure what's more terrifying:
Totalitarian mob siding with repeated punching of 70 year old woman (pictured) thinking they are right side of history.
Deafening silence of politicians to condemn this violent misogyny (with some in my own party either making light or condoning) pic.twitter.com/6gHdzvdmHb— Shahrar Ali (@ShahrarAli) March 26, 2023
A woman said to be 70 years old being bashed, and only one person reacts or intervenes .. Shame on all the enablers of this violence against women @nzherald @nzpolice @shaneellall @AucklandPride I don’t know how you can live with yourselves. You orchestrated this. You’re vile. https://t.co/mYTdnC18m1
