Leading breakfast food maker Sanitarium has announced a major shift in its product lineup, proposing to eliminate the production of muesli, granola, flake, clusters, and puff cereals by June next year.
The company said the decision wass aimed at aligning more closely with local consumer demands. According to the company’s New Zealand general manager, Michael Barton, the affected products represent only ten percent of total sales and have seen a multi-year decline.
Barton explained that the majority of New Zealanders prefer traditional flaked cereals, portable liquid breakfasts, or primarily a hot drink in the morning, which includes their popular cereal options and the UP&GO products. He said continuing the production of the proposed discontinued items would require a substantial investment of $28 million in building and plant upgrades, which is deemed unviable due to changing consumer preferences and the falling sales of these cereal formats.
The potential discontinuation of these products could lead to the loss of 49 jobs across various company departments, including manufacturing, logistics, and head office. Barton emphasised that core products such as Skippy Cornflakes, Ricies, Weet-bix, and Marmite would not be affected by these changes.
Currently, in the consultation phase, Sanitarium is committed to supporting its staff through this challenging period. Barton assured that affected employees would receive full entitlements and access to financial and personal counseling support, career advice, and assistance in transitioning to new employment opportunities, including potential relocations within the company.
Truth is people are moving away from this company because they don’t pay any tax….I don’t care who or what you are, charity, church even you should be paying your fair share of Tax……having said that I do believe that ALL taxation is theft. However it’s the law of the land for Joe Public so it should be for everything and everyone else.
I think that it’s the current ‘never talked about’ global food shortages, or those future pre-planned shortages that will arrive by mid-2025, and as trend-noted by Deagel.com and the Trends Journal.
Notice that the grain cereals are the first to go from Sanitarian’s inventory, which now only offers puffed rice (minimal nutrition) and Weet Bix which looks and taste like sub-flooring…!
Muesli, granola and clusters offer a better range of nutrition, especially in the current economic depression that we are in now!
Can’t have people surviving due to proper emergency nutritional foods- gotta remove those and give everyone their one meal a day ricies or rice puffs complemented with Ramen Noodles..!
But-don’t worry- they’ll be taking those away as well, and blaming Russia for the orchestrated and politically-based ‘shortage’.
How about just eating an apple in the morning or a banana
