Parliament resumed debate on Thursday over the punishment of Te Pāti Māori MPs who disrupted the Treaty Principles Bill debate with a haka.
The Privileges Committee had recommended suspensions for breaching parliamentary rules: 21 days without pay or voting rights for co-leaders Rawiri Waititi and Debbie Ngarewa-Packer, and seven days for MP Hana-Rawhiti Maipi-Clarke.
The initial debate was unexpectedly postponed last month by Leader of the House Chris Bishop, but the proposal has now been voted on and passed following fiery debate in the House this evening.

Great, but having them booted out altogether would have been more appropriate. They disregard any rules while at parliament and behave like school children (apologies children). Imagine if we all behaved like them in a Marae, we’d be told to sit down shut up and/or don’t come back. They have no mana at all and are an embarrassment to Māori. They only got in due to white female academics anyway.
A charge of contempt of court may result in imprisonment for up to six months. Since Parliament is considered to be the highest court why are these three not facing prison time after being found guilty of contempt of Parliament?
These clownz dont represent me
The whole of parliament wasting taxpayers money with this crap.
Do some actual work
A better punishment would have been for them to have their lay docked and force them to turn up every day for 3 weeks and say nothing. Any time they talk, another day docked.
You heard of the Peter principle Te parti Maroi that’s what you are not a brain between the three of you, your voters need to take a good look at themselves ,and so does parliament letting it get this far grow some kahunas and get rid of them for good.
Expecting decorum from a bunch of people genetically descended from cannibals. lol
Be careful Dave you could be in the pot next week.
I’m 1/4 Tamil, so I’d probably give them heartburn.
