Nicholas Metson, 28, has been sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 19 years for the murder of his wife, Holly Bramley.
Metson pleaded guilty to stabbing Bramley to death and then dismembering her body into over 200 pieces before dumping them in the River Witham near Bassingham in Lincolnshire.
The brutal crime shocked the community, with Lincoln Crown Court hearing that Metson had a history of violence towards former partners.
Despite having autism, Judge Simon Hirst said the extent of Bramley’s dismemberment was not justifiable.
‘The number of parts was far from necessary to remove Holly’s parts from your flat,’ said the judge.
Metson’s
friend, Joshua Hancock, was also jailed for aiding in the disposal of Bramley’s remains. The court heard heartbreaking victim impact statements, describing Bramley’s suffering from Metson’s coercive control and manipulation. Metson’s attempts to mislead authorities and online searching for welfare benefits ‘if my wife dies’ after Bramley’s death further compounded the horror of the crime.
