Australia’s biggest KFC franchise operator, Collins Foods, has lifted the lid on the staggering earnings behind its fried chicken empire, reporting $1.15 billion in revenue from 288 Australian stores last financial year.
That works out to more than $4 million in sales per restaurant, with the business generating $245 million in profit, or an average of about $773,000 per store, helped by new restaurant openings and steady sales growth.
Investors piled in after the results, driving the share price sharply higher, while the company signalled further expansion with plans to open up to 10 new KFC outlets next year and as many as 30 by 2028.
Collins Foods also flagged a growing shift to digital ordering, with online, app and kiosk sales now accounting for more than a third of revenue, underscoring the strength of fast food as both a consumer staple and a highly prized retail property investment.
