Former Act Party president Tim Jago denied parole over sexual offending convictions

Tim Jago news

Former Act Party president Tim Jago has been denied parole after the Parole Board ruled he showed little acceptance of the sexual offending that saw him jailed for indecently assaulting two teenage boys he mentored in the 1990s.

Jago, sentenced to two years and six months in prison in November 2024, continues to appeal his convictions and told the board he was willing to “live with” the jury’s verdict despite maintaining it was not his recollection of events.

While his lawyer argued Jago posed a low risk of reoffending, the board declined to release him this month and directed him to prepare a detailed safety plan before his next hearing in December. Jago’s statutory release date is May 2027.

  1. You never know what is lurking below the surface
    Until the mask slips
Plenty more to come that’s for sure
Very unsavory characters these political types
It is a case of what is at the bottom of the barrel and what is on the other side
Unfortunately in NZ our lack luster gaggle of ill equipped politicians show very little charisma
And display even less aptitude understanding nor ability
A good lesson in futility and the road to nowhere
