Former MP Jackie Blue has resigned from the National Party, saying the government’s handling of pay equity legislation was the decisive factor behind her departure.
Blue said changes under the Equal Pay Amendment Act 2025, which halted dozens of claims affecting female-dominated sectors, represented a serious failure of political leadership and unfairly impacted around 180,000 workers, most of them women.
She accused MPs of dismissing affected workers and criticised the parliamentary process as being used against those seeking redress.
Blue will now join The Opportunities Party as a mentor to new leader Qiulae Wong, while former Labour MP Iain Lees-Galloway also continues advising the party.

Hope The Opportunities Party urgently and publicly states their position on the current illegal American-Israeli attacks on Iran so I can decide whether to ignore or glance at their media.
Yes, purity testing everyone and everything through your personal ideologies is a brilliant way to go through life.
Well it can only be a step up from the globalist parties. Let hope more people with a conscience defect from all of them and the remnants go down with the political ship.
