Yemen’s Houthi-led de facto authorities said they attacked “sensitive” sites in Riyadh with missiles and drones on Saturday, as flames and black smoke were seen near the Saudi capital’s main airport.
They also claimed an attack on an Aramco facility at Yanbu, a Red Sea oil-export hub. The Saudi-led coalition said air defences intercepted a missile heading towards Riyadh and foiled other attacks. Saudi authorities issued overnight alerts for Riyadh and Al-Kharj before giving the all-clear. No damage or casualties were confirmed.
Turkey said it was prepared to help Saudi Arabia meet possible military needs under a trilateral defence pact with Pakistan. Iran said mediation efforts involving Pakistan and Qatar were continuing and called on Washington to return to the framework agreement reached in June.
Elsewhere, the US urged Americans across the Middle East to exercise heightened vigilance, warning of possible flight cancellations, airspace closures and travel disruption amid the risk of further escalation.
US President Donald Trump, meanwhile, said he was in “deciding mode” over Iran, telling Fox News: “My question is, if and when do I blow the entire nation up? They better behave.” Trump also indicated he remained open to a deal with Tehran.
