The India FTA criticised for encouraging offshore investment at the expense of local industry.
Critics have pointed to a government-backed trade and export initiative promoting opportunities in India, including references to lower labour costs, arguing it risks undermining New Zealand’s manufacturing base. Concerns have also been raised about provisions linked to facilitating up to $35 billion in New Zealand investment into India over 15 years, alongside more modest projections for export growth.
Trade Minister Todd McClay has acknowledged challenges in securing access for key sectors such as dairy, noting India’s strong domestic industry and protective stance. Observers such as @2ETEKA on X say this could limit the agreement’s benefits for New Zealand exporters, particularly given the country’s relatively small current export volume to India compared to major partners like Australia and the United States.
“Do you really think they will ever let us sell dairy to India? I have a bridge for sale if you do. The median income in India in 2026 is NZD $400 a month, $100 a week. wtf are they ever going to buy off us?”, tweeted @2ETEKA.
“Fonterra could for example open a plant there and process our value added products’. NZ has been here before, exporting raw product to overseas and buying it back in as a finished product, think forestry.”
The debate has intensified amid questions over the balance of obligations within the agreement and the potential long-term impact on New Zealand’s economy, with both supporters and critics continuing to weigh its risks and opportunities.
“Here’s the deal, anytime in 15 years if India doesn’t feel like it’s sucking enough life out of NZ it can kill the deal, which you can guarantee the NZ govt will then drop to their knees to offer anything to India to keep it… like I don’t know, unlimited immigration. Luxon who literally got on his knees to pray to their god during negotiations never really understood Leverage did he? This is mental.”
🚩🚩The NZ Govt has put up its NZ Trade and Export page to encourage NZ businesses to relocate to India.
The main selling point ? – ‘ CHEAP LABOUR’. This deal will gut what is left of NZ’s manufacturing, and Luxon is all for it.
As per the trade agreement with India NZ will… pic.twitter.com/7o2RRy4fzP

With “leadership” like that, who needs enemies?
Its precisely because they want cheap labour that they will push this through. They view everything as a numbers game. Little interest in who is in NZ, or how committed they are, as long as the numbers “look good”. So as third and fourth generation New Zealander’s flee from economic failure, overpriced houses, excessive council rates, lack of jobs and a failing healthcare system (wonder how it will stand up or is that fall down, when faced with the influx?) they will simply replace them with imported people and then say “see, immigration is up, nothing to worry about”.
Of course, Indian people are not stupid, they too will see the writing on the wall and leave for Australia once they have that magic Kiwi passport. Australia, in turn, under growing pressure from its public, will slam the door on our cross Tasman agreement as a consequence.
In short, the only winners here are big business (for a time) and the political class. So this election please join me in giving the globalist party’s a hard pass.
Oh Yay….along with the tsunami of a certain dish expect a flood of cheap electric vehicles & when I say cheap I mean, you get what you pay for 🙁
The full impact of this deal is clothed in secrecy. The last thing NZ needs is an Indian take over. Globalist Luxon would sell his soul to promote his hubris ego.
While Maori & Pakeha die off from the effects of Covid and the created ‘Energy Crisis’ in the Middle East that leads to the shut-downs of the supply lines, Sanjeev & Company moves in to replace us as part of the globalist plan for ‘cheaper slave labour’ sometimes unpaid and bullied by the Zionist-controlled Global Economy and ‘Business Models’!
Either way it’s a ‘lose/lose’ FTA deal!

And ancient Indian histories, accomplishments, and heritage is deliberately never mentioned by the PTB and the MSM.

What does this do?
It minimises a people, exploits the same, and uses them as low-pay or no-pay pawns that displace the original inhabitants of a nation.
We need to support India and Indians regarding their ancient histories and heritage so that they can rebuild their country and overcome Zionist exploitations that have deliberately kept India in caste poverty, so that they will not have a need to come to NZ except as tourists on on temporary and brief Student Visas.
While beauraucrats crat, the very existence, culture and tenure of the true indigenous peoples here is being challenged on the ground. A recent survey asked who was the most famous New Zealander of all time and the answer was unequivocally Billy T. James. Now an Indian MP brings a bill to imprison members of te Pati Maori for their haka while moaning about the traditional use of dance, humour and the very waiata usurped by the government departments they infiltrate. It is not all hearts and flowers by any means, even if it is garlands around the bipolar -party politicians’ necks.
Do the citizens of New Zealand get a say in this decision? It is going to affect us all. Especially Maori.
New Zealand buying milk from India is unbelievable. Luxon and Hipkins still carrying out the globalist plan hoping they won’t be here when TSHTF.
Can NZFirst walk this crooked deal back if it gets into power?
So many of our industries that process our primary industries raw product will move their industrial manufacturing base to India and we will get Indians in return?
What industries are being targeted to move to India for the cheap labor? America did this with China in the 60’s, how did that work out? this is just the same card trick.
What is going to hap[en is that all our raw produce will be shipped to India tariff free, processed with cheap Indian labor and exported, what is exported back to NZ will also be tariff free so expect all your grown in NZ food to be processed in India and shipped back. Now ask yourself why are all the food processing plants are shutting down in NZ, the ones that buy veges from farmers for 60cents and sell them to you for $6? Well they will still be sold to you for $6+ but they wont be manufactured here.
They did this in the US in the 60s, moved all their manufacturing to China, how did that work out?
Labour and national are following UK agenda!!! Vote NZ First and NZ Loyal
It’s treason, we don’t want this, our country continues to be screwed by these globalist puppets, they continue to screw over our youth by importing cheap labour, allowing immigrants to buy up as many businesses as possible so they can install their own workers, we already see it everywhere.
Indian workers are being installed in every western country, to undermine society and impoverish the local population, so will all those food processing plants be shipped to India like our oil refinery?, sounds to me like this was the plan all along.
Offshore? Out at sea.
