Stephen Stone, who spent 25 years in prison for the murder of Deane Fuller-Sandys and the rape and murder of Leah Stephens, has been acquitted after the Crown decided not to proceed with a retrial.

His convictions, along with those of three others – Gail Maney, Colin Maney and Mark Henriksen, were quashed by the Court of Appeal last year.

The Crown told the High Court that key witnesses were no longer available and new forensic testing had yielded no significant results, leaving insufficient evidence to retry the case. Justice Brewer formally acquitted Stone on all charges.

  1. Unfair on him in so many levels. He deserves compensation for the theft of his life & wrongful conviction. Also his name should be publicly cleared. Then he should be left alone to live his life !!

    • No amount of money will ever buy back 25 years, but yeah I’m with you. Sue the absolute piss out of them.

  2. Please don’t let then hide under the police corporation name.

Name the individuals who cheated this man out of his life. Put photos of those people including the police prosecutor here.

  3. The list of people wrongly convicted in this country is disgraceful.Time long overdue to make these corrupt cops and prosecuters pay for these crimes
