An 80-year-old man died after being severely burned when a kerosene-powered fridge exploded at his family’s Marlborough Sounds holiday home.
He had been demonstrating how to light the fridge when a mixture of kerosene and methylated spirits ignited, causing burns to more than half his body.
Despite being airlifted to hospital and receiving weeks of treatment, he died from multiple organ failure caused by the burns.
A coroner’s report found that the use of mixed fuels lowered the ignition point, leading to the explosion, and issued warnings to the public about the dangers of mixing fuels and proper safety precautions when using kerosene appliances.
The heart just gives up
Especially at that age
Still less likely to happen again than a bus being involved in an auto accident. So why are EV’s still allowed on our roads?
Why are such primitive methods of refrigeration still allowed??
Kinda like a gas-powered TV, or an EV sitting on the shoulder of the road dead from an EMP, solar flare, CME, or a shorted battery fire which requires 6,000 gallons of water on the average to put out!
But, when the power grid is taken down, the EV’s won’t be able to recharge anyway….BAWHAWHAWHAWHAWHAW…!!!
Don’t look for portable generators to work either, unless they are EMP protected or sitting inside a Farraday cage..
I’ll take a diesel-powered Hilux, Ranger, Navarra or BT-50 any day over these other ‘politically-correct’ and ‘environMENTALLY – driven EV’s any day!
