The leader of Destiny Church set the record straight on Twitter this evening.
Early this morning South Auckland man Zane Wedding claimed he was assaulted by members of Destiny Church after he unfurled a ‘Pride Flag’ at the top of a tree near the church’s Wiri property.
Tamaki accused the legacy media of promoting a ‘woke/gay/trans agenda’ and distorting the truth in their coverage of the incident.
In a tweet this evening he said church security staff responded to reports of a prowler in the early hours of the morning, and that police had expressed no issues with the way the incident was handled. The staff said the man ‘already had a black eye before he arrived on site,’ said Tamaki.
‘Earlier headlines today read “Police investigate alleged assault after rainbow flag raised on tree outside Destiny Church.” They hadn’t bothered to approach the church for a statement. So we sent them a statement this afternoon. Now they’ve amended the story to be a twisted ‘version’ of the truth.’

Police were called overnight when a prowler was spotted at Destiny Church and the responding police had no problem with how Destiny security dealt with the matter.
Police have confirmed “there were no injuries reported as a result of the incident.”
