Disappearance of Anaru Moana – search to take place in Waimate
A search operation is due to take place this week in relation to the disappearance of 37-year-old Anaru Moana.
Mr Moana was reported missing in December 2021 and has not been seen since.
Police have identified search areas of interest in the Waimate area, and residents can expect to see a heightened Police presence in and around the town.
“We’re focused on returning Anaru to his whānau, who have been waiting a long time for answers,” says Detective Inspector Joel Syme.
“We’re determined to find him, and hold those responsible for his disappearance to account.”
Missing person located deceased – New Plymouth
New Plymouth Police were advised at 9.45am yesterday that a member of the public had located a man deceased at a property on Queens Road in Glen Avon.
While formal identification is yet to be completed, Police believe it is Dion Gifkins, who was reported missing on 4 July.
Police will make enquiries into the death on behalf of the Coroner.
Update – Fatal crash, SH 3/Oxford Tce, Midhirst, Taranaki
Police advise that one person died following a crash at the intersection of SH 3 and Oxford Terrace in Midhirst, Taranaki.
The crash involved two vehicles and was reported to Police at 11.55am yesterday.
