NZ Food Safety says rancid lunches served to students at Christchurch’s Haeata Community Campus were most likely meals delivered the previous Thursday, left unrefrigerated at the school over the weekend, and accidentally re-served on Monday alongside fresh meals.
Investigators found one missing Cambro storage box, aligning with Compass Group’s internal records, and the School Lunch Collective said the findings matched what staff observed on the day.
Compass expressed frustration at public assumptions, noting that 73,000 other lunches of the same recipe were served nationwide without issue.
After an investigation by NZ Food Safety deputy director-general Vince Arbuckle said, “We have considered all possible causes. We think it is more than likely that the affected meals at the school had been delivered the previous Thursday, remained at the school without refrigeration, and then were accidentally re-served to students alongside fresh meals delivered on Monday. This would explain the deterioration of the meals.”
Associate Education Minister David Seymour said the provider had been unfairly blamed, stating the responsibility “on the balance of probabilities” lies with those who politicised the issue rather than with Compass.
“We can never be absolutely certain but on the balance of probabilities it is the person who has vociferously and politically gone out in the media on this issue, attacking me, the government and Compass, the food provider, who is responsible,” he said.

HOW MUCH CORPORATE STOCK DOES SEYMOUR HAVE IN COMPASS?
OR, HOW MUCH STOCK DO HIS J3WI$H CONSTITUENTS OWN IN THE SAME?
He’s been promoting rotting / GMO food for quite some time now, and doing so in a shameless fashion!
Bottom line- ‘they’ don’t care or sive a shit about us or our families!!!
VOTE FOR THE NEW ZEALAND LOYAL PARTY IN 2026 IN ORDER TO END THIS GLOBAL ZIONIST-INSPIRED CORRUPT GOVERNMENT!!!
That’s right, See’Mo…balme the school, and place the *onus (*anus) back on the victims…just like most all agencies do here in NZ..!

So on balance its the schools fault, even though there’s no actual hard evidence to prove who is to blame? Is that correct?
If I’m reading this correctly, wouldn’t it have been fairer and more equitable to simply say we don’t know who is responsible but we will speak to all parties concerned, to ensure food it kept clean and safe?
As I said and I’ll keep on saying it, voting for more of the same wont enact the change we, desperately need in New Zealand.
