A 16-year-old boy is in serious condition after being assaulted by several individuals in Ōrewa, north of Auckland, late last night.
Police responded to the incident on Riverside Road at 11.10pm, where the teenager was found with significant injuries, including a broken eye socket and head trauma. He was transported to hospital for treatment.
Authorities were provided with a description of a vehicle seen leaving the scene, but when police located the vehicle shortly after, the occupants did not match the descriptions of the suspected attackers.
Police investigations are ongoing as they work to identify and locate those responsible.
