Gunfire heard near Venezuela’s presidential palace in Caracas was triggered by unregistered drones entering restricted airspace, according to a government source.
The incident occurred on Monday, when reports of shooting near the palace circulated, raising concerns about security in the capital.
A correspondent who later visited the area said the gunfire had stopped and that security measures had been increased around the site. Authorities said police fired warning shots after drones were detected flying over central Caracas without permission.
The source stressed there was no confrontation linked to the incident and said the situation was quickly brought under control.
Officials told Sputnik International that the country remained calm following the episode, with no wider security threat reported.
