Bangladesh level series after six-wicket win over Black Caps

Bangladesh have squared the ODI series at 1-1 after a commanding six-wicket victory over New Zealand in Dhaka, chasing down 198 in just 36 overs.

The Black Caps, who chose to bat first, were bowled out late in their innings after pace bowler Nahid Rana produced a standout performance, claiming 5-32 from his full quota of overs. Opener Nick Kelly anchored the innings with 83, but lacked meaningful support, with Muhammad Abbas the only other batter to reach double figures beyond him with 19. In response, Tanzid Hasan led the chase with 76, while captain Najmul Hossain Shanto added a composed 50 to guide the hosts home comfortably.

Jayden Lennox was the pick of New Zealand’s bowlers with two wickets, while Nathan Smith and Will O’Rourke took one apiece.

Captain Tom Latham said Bangladesh’s early pressure with the ball proved decisive, noting his side struggled to form partnerships and failed to make early breakthroughs while defending a modest total. The teams now move to Chattogram for Thursday’s series decider.
