Kiwi Chris Wood delivered a sensational hat-trick as Nottingham Forest thrashed Brighton 7-0 at the City Ground, securing their biggest-ever Premier League win and bouncing back emphatically from last weekend’s heavy defeat at Bournemouth.
The hosts dominated from the start, with Morgan Gibbs-White forcing an early own goal from Lewis Dunk before heading in a second. Wood then made it 3-0 before halftime, capitalizing on Anthony Elanga’s pinpoint cross.
Despite Brighton’s early attacking intent, their defense collapsed in the second half as Wood completed his treble from the penalty spot, becoming the first Forest player to net a home hat-trick since 1987.
Neco Williams and Jota Silva added further goals to complete the rout, while Brighton endured their worst league defeat since 1958. The result propels Forest level on points with second-placed Arsenal, while Brighton remain ninth.
