The One New Zealand Warriors will be without four key players for their round 22 NRL clash against the Dolphins at Go Media Stadium tonight.
Front rower Demitric Vaimauga has been ruled out with a knee injury, despite being named to replace injured captain James Fisher-Harris (calf). Vaimauga had featured in all 18 games this season. The club is also missing hooker Wayde Egan, who is following NRL concussion protocols, and Chanel Harris-Tavita, also previously ever-present, who is sidelined for a week with a calf issue.
Queensland Origin star Kurt Capewell will take on the captaincy in Fisher-Harris’ absence. Sam Healey steps in at hooker for his third NRL game this year, while Te Maire Martin moves from the bench to start in the halves. Utility back Taine Tuaupiki and Freddy Lussick, who is set for his first NRL appearance of 2024, join the interchange.
The mounting injury toll brings the Warriors’ unavailable list to eight, including Mitchell Barnett, Luke Metcalf, Rocco Berry, and Ali Leiataua—players who collectively represent over 750 NRL games. Despite last week’s 16-24 loss to the Titans, the Warriors sit fourth on the ladder with 30 points. The Dolphins, coming off a bye after defeating the Cowboys 43-24, are eighth with 24 points.
