Alexander Ovechkin became the first player in NHL history to score 900 regular-season goals during the Washington Capitals’ game against the St. Louis Blues, netting the milestone after intercepting a pass from goalie Jordan Binnington.
The moment briefly turned chaotic when Binnington appeared to hide the commemorative puck before being told to return it, a scene that quickly went viral.

The 40-year-old Russian star celebrated the goal with teammates, further cementing his legacy as hockey’s greatest goalscorer. Ovechkin now stands at 977 total goals across regular and postseason play, 40 short of Wayne Gretzky’s all-time record.
What a moment…Jordan Binnington stuffs Ovi’s 900th goal puck in his pants, only to be caught by a linesman 😭 #ALLCAPS #stlblues
