Record Channel crossings surge as 250 illegal migrants arrive in UK on Good Friday

Over 250 migrants illegally crossed the English Channel on Good Friday, pushing the weekly total to 2,122 and the 2025 year-to-date figure to 9,350—43 percent higher than last year and the highest January-April total since the small boat crisis began in 2018.

The latest influx undermines government efforts to crack down on smuggling gangs, with Labour having scrapped the Rwanda deportation plan and redirected funds into a new Border Security Command.

The government is now pursuing tougher enforcement and exploring a potential migrant return deal with France to stem the surge.

  1. Government sanctioned invasion. Pure and simple.

Everything else they say is just lip service.

This is happening to the entire western world

  2. The smuggling gangs should have been ‘taken out’ years ago. The security forces must have details of the serial numbers on the outboard motors and rubber boats. Easy enough to work out who bought the engines and boats and where they were purchased.

If the UK government was really serious about stopping this trade they wouldn’t be offering a taxi -boat service to these illegal migrants from the midway point of the English Channel nor would they then put them up in 4 star hotels and provide them with meals, healthcare and spending money.

Apparently there is plenty of accommodation available at GITMO. Starmer should do a deal with Trump to offload these illegal aliens there for a fee thus reducing the tariff costs that the UK is facing from the US. It would end up being a whole lot cheaper than forking out the billions of pounds that the UK is currently spending each year accommodating these illegal aliens. It would also stop the boats crossing the Channel instantly.
