Typhoon Bualoi has killed at least 11 people in central and northern Vietnam, leaving dozens missing or injured and damaging hundreds of homes.
The storm, which previously killed more than 20 in the Philippines, made landfall Sunday night with winds of 117km/h, flooding roads, toppling power lines, and washing away bridges before weakening as it moved into Laos.
Rescuers are searching for 17 missing fishermen, while nearly 30,000 residents were evacuated and dozens of flights cancelled.
Heavy rain of up to 500mm is expected in parts of northern Vietnam through Tuesday, with authorities urging people to remain indoors. The disaster follows last week’s Super Typhoon Ragasa, which killed at least 28 people across the Philippines, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and China.
