A three-month-old girl has died following a dog attack at a property in Dormanstown, Redcar in the UK, prompting a police investigation.

Cleveland Police said officers were called to the address on Hardale Grove on Thursday afternoon, where armed police attended and two dogs were later destroyed.

Specialist assessment confirmed the animals were not of a prohibited breed.

A 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control causing fatal injury and has since been released on bail.

A 31-year-old woman was also injured in the incident and treated in hospital.

Authorities say inquiries are ongoing as they continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the child’s death, with police appealing for witnesses and footage while maintaining a visible presence at the scene.
