Tehran has warned that American “hideouts” in Gulf states could become legitimate targets after US President Donald Trump threatened further action against Iran’s main oil export hub on Kharg Island unless attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz stop, heightening fears of a deeper shock to global energy supplies.
Trump’s warning came as markets closely watched whether recent US strikes had damaged the island’s critical infrastructure, which handles most of Iran’s crude exports, while the US Central Command said it had “executed a large-scale precision strike” targeting military facilities on the island “while preserving the oil infrastructure.”
Iran insisted the installations had not suffered heavy damage, with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps saying it maintains “full and precise control” over the Strait of Hormuz and warning of retaliation across the Gulf.
The escalation intensified after Iranian media reported that a US oil tanker was attacked and set on fire near Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates.
Tehran’s IRGC also said it had launched additional strikes on Israel in coordination with Hezbollah, as Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the UAE reported intercepting aerial attacks overnight, while Israel said it intercepted rockets and missiles after coming under renewed fire.
Iraqi officials said a missile struck a helipad at the US Embassy in Baghdad, and pro-Iranian sources claimed a kamikaze drone damaged an air-defense radar system.
Israel meanwhile said its air force hit more than 200 targets across western and central Iran in the past 24 hours, including missile launchers, air-defense systems and weapons production sites.
The US has also deployed about 10,000 AI-enabled Merops interceptor drones to the Middle East to counter Iranian aerial attacks, while reports emerged that five US Air Force tanker aircraft at a base in Saudi Arabia were damaged in an Iranian missile strike.
Trump said the US Navy would “soon” begin escorting commercial vessels through the waterway to ensure safe passage.

A new leader must emerge in Iran ASAP and an interim government appointed. Their current leader is either comatose or being operated on in Russia. Either way a new administration must be appointed before any oil can be shipped from Hormuz and more importantly elections must be held ASAP.
