A peaceful vigil is set to take place outside Pak’N Save Silverdale on Saturday 14 June, from 11am to 12 noon, urging clearer labelling of genetically engineered (GE) food and a stop to the controversial Gene Technology Bill.
Organised and supported by GE Honesty, the event calls on the government to protect consumer rights by ensuring full transparency around GE ingredients in supermarket products.
Organisers say the proposed legislation weakens safeguards and could open the door to unregulated GE use in New Zealand.
Attendees are invited to join the vigil to raise awareness and support honest labelling and science-based regulation.

Good on them. Extend these out across the country. I’d be happy to come along and show my support.
Terribly important to educate/make aware the general public about this gene technology push by the government (Collins). Pake n Save on a busy Saturday morning is a good time to reach shoppers.
The government’s peculiar unethical refusal to properly label GMO products raises some serious questions.
Corruption being the most likely explanation obviously.
Unsurprisingly, and as per usual, the unflushable Judith Collins is up to her neck in it.
