Auckland police have arrested three additional teenagers as the investigation into the fatal April attack on American PhD student Kyle Whorrall nears its prosecution phase.

The latest arrests – two 18-year-olds and a 17-year-old – follow search warrants executed in Kaikohe, Mt Wellington and Manurewa, bringing the total number of people charged to six, including five youths and a 33-year-old woman.

Detective Inspector Glenn Baldwin said the trio now face joint charges of murder and aggravated robbery, and confirmed Whorrall’s mother had been updated on the developments.

He noted that the suspects had been persons of interest for some time, with previous search warrants already carried out, and that new items recovered this week will undergo further examination.

While police believe they have now identified all those allegedly involved in the killing at a Meadowbank bus stop, Baldwin said the wider investigation remains active, though no further arrests are expected for the murder itself.

The three accused are scheduled to appear in the Kaikohe and Auckland Youth Courts.

  1. He was an American, so a perfect target for the communist-leaning and socialist-inspired ‘other’ tribe(s).
