Sports Minister Mark Mitchell has called on Sport New Zealand to intervene in Netball New Zealand’s ongoing coaching impasse with Dame Noeline Taurua, saying the drawn-out saga is harming the sport.
Taurua and her staff were stood down last month after a review found “significant issues” in the team environment, leading to failed mediation efforts and the appointment of Yvette McCausland-Durie as interim coach.
With the Silver Ferns struggling in the Constellation Cup series, Mitchell said the dispute “has taken too long” and urged both parties to resolve it quickly. He ruled out freezing government funding, emphasising that all involved remain deeply committed to New Zealand netball.
