At least eight people were killed and 400 injured as mass protests erupted across Kenya against President William Ruto’s government, marking a year since deadly demonstrations in 2024.
Protesters in Nairobi and other cities chanted “Ruto must go” while police blocked attempts to reach State House using barricades and tear gas.
Though the government tried to ban live coverage, the High Court overturned the order.
Human rights groups claim up to 16 people may have died.
Protesters cited frustration over education, governance, and rising costs, demanding urgent reforms and accountability.
