A gunman identified as Aleksandar Martinović, 45, killed at least 10 people, including two children and members of his own family, in a shooting in southern Montenegro’s Cetinje area on Wednesday.
The violence, triggered by a verbal argument in a restaurant, also claimed the lives of the restaurant owner and their children.
Four others remain in critical condition.
After fleeing the scene, the attacker fatally shot himself when police surrounded him.
Montenegro’s Prime Minister Milojko Spajic called it a “terrible tragedy,” and the government declared three days of national mourning.
The Interior Minister attributed the incident to “disturbed interpersonal relations”.
