Chelsea have been charged by the Football Association with 74 alleged rule breaches relating to agent payments between 2009 and 2022, mainly focused on transfers from 2010 to 2016, including deals for Eden Hazard, Samuel Eto’o and Willian.
While the players are not accused of wrongdoing, the charges involve agents, intermediaries and third-party investments during Roman Abramovich’s ownership. Chelsea, who self-reported the issues after Todd Boehly’s takeover, have until 19 September to respond and face possible sanctions ranging from fines to a points deduction, though their cooperation is expected to mitigate sporting penalties.
The Premier League’s separate investigation remains ongoing, and the club were previously fined £8.6m by UEFA for incomplete financial reporting.
