Christian Horner has formally left Red Bull, securing a reported €60m (£52m) severance package after his sacking as team principal in July, one of the largest payouts in sporting history.
Horner, who had led Red Bull Racing since its formation in 2005, oversaw eight drivers’ and six constructors’ titles during his tenure but was ousted following a turbulent 18 months marked by sexual harassment allegations, internal power struggles, and declining team performance.
Despite being twice cleared of the allegations, Horner lost the backing of Red Bull’s main shareholders, prompting his dismissal. The team also lost key figures, including legendary designer Adrian Newey, amid the turmoil. In farewell statements, both Red Bull and Horner acknowledged his pivotal role in transforming the energy drink-backed outfit into one of Formula 1’s most successful teams.
