Vice President Kamala Harris made a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live this weekend, appearing alongside her impersonator, Maya Rudolph.
As the mirror image of herself, Harris joined in poking fun at recent political events, including Donald Trump’s appearance in a sanitation vest at a rally and Joe Biden’s verbal gaffes.
Social media users called the appearance “cringe” and questioned the authenticity of the laughter on the show.
Critics on social media didn’t hold back. One user commented, “Watching this makes me seriously wonder if the laughs on SNL are fake.” Another echoed the sentiment, calling it “the most cringe thing I’ve ever seen,” while another went as far as to say, “She’ll do this garbage but not a podcast with Joe Rogan.” Some viewers likened her appearance to past sketches, accusing her of a lack of originality: “This is a rehash of a Jimmy Fallon/Mick Jagger sketch.” Others even questioned Harris’s sincerity, with one stating, “I’ve never seen a faker person than Kamala Harris.”
The Trump campaign also issued a statement, labeling the appearance as “cosplaying with her elitist friends on Saturday Night Leftists” and claiming it exemplified a campaign in “obscurity.”
