Trump envoys say Israeli strike on Qatar ‘betrayed’ Gaza Peace Talks

U.S. President Donald Trump’s senior peace negotiators have said they felt “betrayed” by Israel after it launched an airstrike on Qatar during delicate Gaza ceasefire talks.

Jared Kushner and US special envoy Steve Witkoff, key figures in Trump’s Middle East “dealmaking consortium,” said the attack undermined Washington’s mediation efforts.

Witkoff told CBS that both he and Kushner were blindsided by the strike, which killed six people in Doha, including a Qatari security officer.

“We lost the confidence of the Qataris,” he said, explaining that Hamas then went into hiding, stalling negotiations.

Qatar condemned the bombing as “state terrorism,” while Trump later clarified that the White House had not approved the strike and blamed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for acting unilaterally.

Kushner said Trump believed Israel was “getting a little out of control” and urged restraint.

Despite the setback, a ceasefire was eventually reached in Sharm el-Sheikh, requiring Israel to withdraw from parts of Gaza and exchange 20 hostages for 2,000 Palestinian prisoners.

  1. BS. These envoys know full well that Israel is not interested in lasting peace. Peace conflicts with its expansion plans of a Greater Israel, while the world increasingly learns to despise Jews.
