According to a recent report from The Sunday Times, Prince Harry turned down an offer from King Charles to stay in a royal residence during his visit to the UK this week.
Royal Editor Roya Nikkhah revealed that the Duke of Sussex, who returned to the UK to attend a Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, opted to stay in a hotel instead. Despite the presence of 1,000 guests at the service on Wednesday, Prince Harry’s paternal family members were noticeably absent.
After his brief UK visit, Prince Harry reunited with his wife, Meghan Markle, for a three-day trip to Nigeria.
The couple left their two young children, Prince Archie, who recently turned five, and Princess Lilibet, who will turn three in June, at home in Montecito, California. Upon their arrival in Nigeria on Friday, they were warmly greeted by Chief of Defense Staff Christopher Musa. Their itinerary included a visit to Lightway Academy in Abuja and a training session with the charity organisation Nigeria: Unconquered. On Saturday, Meghan co-hosted an event on Women in Leadership with Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the director-general of the World Trade Organization.
For the final day of their visit on Sunday, Meghan and Harry are expected to participate in a basketball camp with Giants of Africa, attend a cultural reception, and join a polo fundraiser for Nigeria: Unconquered.
This trip marks their first visit to Nigeria as a couple. The country holds special significance for them, with Meghan having spent time with the Nigerian team at the Invictus Games last year and being honoured with her Nigerian name, Amira Ngozi Lolo. “Amira” translates to warrior princess, “Ngozi” means blessed, and “Lolo” symbolises royal wife.
