The United States House of Representatives has voted to restore funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), bringing an end to a 76-day partial shutdown tied to disputes over immigration enforcement.
Lawmakers approved legislation already passed by the United States Senate through a voice vote, allowing the agency to resume normal operations after months of disruption that contributed to lengthy airport delays across the country.
The bill, backed by Donald Trump, does not provide additional funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement or the United States Border Patrol.
The legislation is now awaiting Trump’s signature, which is expected shortly.
